FMCG Manufacturing
High-speed batch production and packing of many SKUs, where pack-size changeovers and packaging material decide the day.

Also covers: Consumer Goods Manufacturing · Packaged Goods Manufacturing · Contract Packing
About this industry
An FMCG plant makes a few formulations and packs them into many SKUs — sizes, MRPs, schemes and customer-specific packs. The bulk batch is rarely the problem; packing is. Every changeover costs line time, every SKU needs its own laminate or carton, and every MRP change strands packaging material. The plant needs its packing plan and its packaging stock in the same place.
Common operational problems
- Pack-size changeovers eat line time that nobody measures
- Packaging material for a discontinued MRP sits unusable
- Batch yield from bulk to packed units is not reconciled
- Scheme packs and bonus packs are planned outside the system
- Expiry is tracked at dispatch rather than at planning
Example workflows
Bulk batch produced against formulation
Packing plan by SKU with packaging material reserved
Changeovers recorded as downtime per line
Bulk-to-packed yield reconciled per batch
Dispatch with batch, MRP and expiry on every unit
