What this connects

RFID readers to stock movement and asset tracking.

Supported workflows

  • Bulk goods receipt without individual scanning
  • Asset and tool tracking
  • WIP movement between production stages
  • Fast stock-take of tagged inventory

Data exchanged

  • Tag identifiers
  • Reader location and timestamp
  • Mapped product or asset record

Setup requirements

  • RFID readers and antennas installed at read points
  • Tags applied and mapped to records
  • Network connectivity from readers

Permissions required

  • Network access to reader hardware

Security and privacy

  • Readers transmit tag identifiers only.
  • Reader endpoints should sit on a restricted network segment.

Known limitations

Stated plainly, because finding these out during implementation is worse than knowing them now.

  • Metal and liquid interfere with read reliability, which is a physics constraint rather than a software one.
  • Tag and reader cost makes RFID worthwhile only above a certain volume.
