Business Intelligence
On RequestWorks with AnantaTech Hub · Provided by Metabase
What this connects
A read-only view of your business data to a Metabase instance you run or host.
Supported workflows
- Self-serve questions without a developer writing a report each time
- Scheduled email or Slack delivery of a saved question
- Dashboards built by the people who use them
Data exchanged
- Read-only rows from the tables in scope
Setup requirements
- A Metabase instance, self-hosted or cloud
- A read-only connection scoped to approved tables
- Network access from Metabase to that connection
Permissions required
- Read access to the specific data in scope
Security and privacy
- Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS).
- Credentials and tokens are stored server-side and never exposed to the browser.
- Access can be revoked at any time from the provider's own account settings.
Known limitations
Stated plainly, because finding these out during implementation is worse than knowing them now.
- Read-only. Metabase does not write to your business data.
- Query cost sits on the connection you expose, so heavy ad-hoc use is sized for deliberately.
