Worked scenario
A regular customer measured from scratch on every visit
Measurements are the most valuable record a tailor holds and the one most often thrown away with the job slip.
3 min read
A returning customer is measured again, because the previous measurements went out with the last job slip.
The customer notices
Being measured from scratch each time signals that the relationship is not recorded, which is precisely the opposite of what a bespoke service should communicate.
What it enables
A tailor holding current measurements can take an order over the phone, suggest a repeat of a previous garment, and adjust for a change without a fitting. That is a materially different service, and it needs one record.
What changes
- Measurements held against the customer, not the order
- Adjustments over time recorded rather than re-taken
- Previous orders visible when a repeat is placed
- Remote or phone orders possible for regulars
