Worked scenario
Equipment in service with test certificates nobody could produce
Certified equipment carries a date, and a supplier who does not track it loses both the recurring test revenue and the customer at their audit.
3 min read
Harnesses, extinguishers, lifting gear and similar items are supplied certified and require periodic re-testing to stay compliant.
The obligation is the customer's; the opportunity is yours
Suppliers who track expiry across their installed base convert an obligation their customer will meet anyway into predictable recurring work.
Per item, not per customer
Customers buy in batches over years, so a single renewal date per account is meaningless. The record has to be per item or the list it produces will be wrong.
What changes
- Certificate expiry recorded against the item and the customer
- Renewal due lists produced rather than remembered
- Test history retained per item across its life
- Customers approaching audit contacted in advance
